With a passion for bookkeeping, Carrick Aland’s Vicki Wilson has loved working with accounting technology throughout her career, starting with MYOB and BankLink and now, Xero.
So it’s convenient that Vicki gets to prepare financial and activity statements for business and primary production clients seated right in the heart of Xero’s QLD Accounting Partner of the Year, Carrick Aland!
“Our difference is the broad base of clientele and the quality service we provide,” says Vicki. “Carrick Aland are not just accountants; we also help our clients with audits, investments and superannuation.”
Having started originally with Carrick Ashmead in Dalby straight out of school, Vicki operated the firm’s only computer. She caught on quickly, streamlined the data entry process and progressed from making cash book and journal entries to, these days, supporting Beth and Cameron pulling together clients’ financials.
Vicki is fully immersed in cloud accounting.
“With Xero being our primary accounting system, we have already migrated a number of clients across and are now planning for a smooth transition into tax integrations,” says Vicki.
“At the end of the day, cloud accounting provides a better understanding of clients’ businesses, both for the owners and us.”
So much groundwork has been laid around using Xero at Carrick Aland that Vicki is only too happy to field any queries that come from clients.
“Help is only ever a phone call away,” Vicki says. “All the team are friendly which is why I’ve lasted as long as I have. We’re only too happy to get people up and running as fast as we can, especially at tax time when it’s best to send in your financial information whilst it’s still fresh in your mind.”
