Carrick Aland Assistant Accountant, Rhedyn Daly
Toowoomba local Rhedyn Daly is currently working as a trainee accountant at Carrick Aland while studying for a Bachelor of Business & Commerce (Accounting & Finance) at USQ, but she has always loved numbers for as long as she can remember.
In the short time she has been with us (Rhedyn joined Carrick Aland in August 2018) she has already become a Xero Certified Consultant.
“When I left school I had no idea what I wanted to do but I knew I really liked working with numbers,” says Rhedyn. “A friend in Brisbane was an accountant and suggested accounting to me. She was convincing enough for me to follow through.”
“I’m definitely glad I did. I don’t think I could do anything else as fulfilling as accounting!”
In her role as a trainee, Rhedyn spends her workdays doing tax work, including BAS’ and end of year financials, plus general bookkeeping for a range of businesses.
“Once I start doing something I can grasp the concept pretty quickly which has helped me get this far,” says Rhedyn. “Kent Gripske set me up with the right training and has continued to be my mentor whenever I need help.”
Rhedyn is swiftly learning the ropes and loves that there is always something different to the type of work she does.
“My job has been interesting from day one,” says Rhedyn. “I’ve also been introduced to a range of farming issues exposing me to the unique aspects of agribusiness and its particular nuances. I love it!”
Whilst Rhedyn has a way to go with her professional studies, which she fits in around her day job, she lets off steam by reading, gaming, getting away with friends and soaking up the music and atmosphere at live music events.
