Applying for a Director ID Number (DIN)
As of today 5 April 2022, new directors must apply for their director ID before they’re appointed.
The Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS) is reaching out to directors who haven’t applied on time to encourage them to do so, but you shouldn’t wait to be contacted.
The application is free, and the ATO encourages directors to apply early and avoid any risk of non-compliance:
You must apply for your own director ID so you can verify your identity. No one can apply on your behalf.
