Meet Kent Gripske CPA, B Comm, C dec
“I started as a bookkeeper in my early teens, graduated as an Accountant, learnt how to be an Auditor and became a Tax Agent”, says Carrick Aland Partner Kent Gripske. “All along the way employing technology to make my life easier.”
Since joining Carrick Aland in 1999, Kent has combined all these attributes in his role as Disruptor – a title well-suited if you ask any of his teachers, family, friends, work colleagues and the people who know him!
“I’ve always viewed ‘the rules’ differently, often questioning the why and always on the lookout for the quickest, easiest path,” says Kent. “Why do five steps when only two are needed, right?”
Kent’s disruptive and usually chaotic nature found a perfect home in the world of technology and his experience gained through 30 years of working with businesses, government agencies, not for profits and those just looking to get ahead lead him to his passion for simplifying business processes through the use of technology.
“For a good part of the last 18 years I’ve helped not only Carrick Aland (which in 2002 I somehow convinced the Board to take me on as equal shareholder), but business of all shapes, sizes and industries to employ technology to improve their business in various and different ways, even a few other accounting firms.”
“In a world that changes so quickly it’s useful and somewhat exciting to be a ‘Disruptor’ but, truth be told, I’m no longer sure if I’m the Dr Frankenstein applying the mad science, or the monster created by the experiment,” added Kent.
