Proactive, better overall business view and accounting timesavings
Talbingo Pastoral Company is a family-owned mixed farming business between Dalby and Tara, comprising of grain and cotton production and livestock – cattle breeding, backgrounding and operation of a 3,000 head feedlot. The business is managed by Robert and Anne Bridle.
Talbingo Pastoral Company’s move to the Xero accounting platform with ReceiptBank and Figured add-ons in 2018 has been a worthwhile and timely process for the business.
The automated upload and coding of invoices into the system from PDF documents has taken away the tedious and mundane job of matching invoices to statements and manually entering financial records.
“Effectively, machine smarts have given us the equivalent of an additional half a person in the office doing that job, which was also a job no-one wanted to do,” said Anne Bridle.
“Our business position is up-to-date and known on any given day plus we are 98% paperless for all our accounts and can finally stop stockpiling paper bills and sales invoices.”
The move was a daunting task, however the Bridle family was fortunate to have Wayne Turner and Dan Bartkowski at Carrick Aland assist them through the process from transitioning in opening balances, to knowing which add-ons to integrate and training Anne in the use of the various programs.
“These programs are really blank canvases, and having Carrick Aland involved in custom fitting the account setup with our farm financial management goals has helped us to get the most out of them,” said Anne.
“We use ReceiptBank to push all our invoices to Xero as a draft or coded bill, whereas Figured is used for our livestock trackers, farm planning and budgeting.”
“It was a very steep learning curve but we got there. Dan’s detailed knowledge of the different programs, our business needs and where we wanted to take our farm management and accounting were integral in how far we have come today.”
“It is now very easy to collaborate with Carrick Aland about our set of accounts, as we can both see them at the same time remotely on our computers.”
“We have also put ourselves in a position to be able to remotely outsource administration support should we ever need to in the future.”
