Australia’s best accounting firms revealed in 2022
Carrick Aland has been named a Top 100 Accounting Firm by the Australian Financial Review (AFR).
Each year the AFR surveys Australian public practice accountants and compiles their rank of top-performing firms across the country.
Unsurprisingly 25% of the Top 100 positions are dominated by national and international firms with offices in most major centres in Australia, so gaining a place as bona fide local accountants in the remaining field is not a small achievement. This year two independent Dalby firms, Carrick Aland and BMO, plus one other Toowoomba firm feature on the list. Only 15 per cent of accounting firms in the Top 100 were regional accounting businesses.
The AFR asks firms to comment on financial performance, demographic changes over the past year, and other business and economic-related questions. This year there was a particular focus on workforce shortages, regulatory red tape and the challenges of running a business.
In an accounting market where sending the bookwork offshore is conventional practice, Carrick Aland is one of the firms keeping it local.
“Distance doesn’t matter,” said Director Greg Burton. “We use cloud technology to enhance our interactions no matter where our clients are located and offer a range of flexible ways to interact with our team.”
In the past 12 months Carrick Aland also made major service enhancements which fuelled growth.
“Our clients benefit by being able to tap into highly-developed expertise on their doorstep under one roof and our team gets to play a major part in innovating and upskilling their capability which seriously strengthens our relationships with our clients.”
“Acting for rural clients and being a regional country firm ourselves, the pool of specialists at our disposal is smaller, therefore we are prone to innovate and re-engineer to create any required expertise inhouse under one roof.”
“For our team to be involved in that process is unique in an environment where it’s not unusual for accountants to push their work down and offshore.”
“Operating in a predominantly rural setting, we’re pleased to play our part by putting regional expertise on the map.”
“After being named Australian Business Advisory Firm of the Year and Millennium3 Financial Planning Practice of the Year, this is a wonderful way to wrap up 2022,” Greg added. “We couldn’t have done it without the enthusiasm and industry of our dedicated team or the support of our wonderful clients.”
