With the leadership of Queensland now decided, small businesses and startups can expect new support measures from the incoming LNP leadership.
The LNP’s Small Business First policy introduces initiatives across key areas to drive growth and efficiency for local ventures.
Central to these changes is a wage subsidy pilot for apprentices, primarily in the construction industry, to address trade shortages. This $19 million program will cover up to 50% of wages in the early years and aims to support 2,000 apprentices.
Additionally, a small business concierge service will streamline interactions with government, while accelerated payment processes are set to enhance cash flow by paying invoices under $10,000 within five days. Red tape reduction is another focus, with an effort to simplify processes for small business.
The new government will also launch an Innovation Pathway program, funding small businesses up to $1 million for short-term government projects, alongside plans for regional innovation hubs and easier access to government tenders. A $40 million Secure Communities Partnership Program will address crime prevention with grants for security measures like CCTV and alarm systems.
Support for agriculture and tourism includes a $30 million fund for farming innovation and a 20-year tourism roadmap preparing for the Olympics. Treasury will also be instructed to abolish Stamp Duty on new builds for first-home buyers.
