Carrick Aland delivers much-needed clarity on aged care reforms
Carrick Aland’s March aged care seminar gave Dalby locals a chance to get on the front foot ahead of sweeping aged care changes coming into effect from 1 July 2025.
Held at Dalby Senior Citizens Hall on Friday 28 March, the session broke down the key reforms to home and residential care funding, including the new Support at Home program.
Presented by Carrick Aland’s Aged Care Specialist, Greg Burton, the seminar covered topics including the new Support at Home program, fees for new residential care entrants, Financial Planning strategies to minimise costs, insights into Centrelink and estate planning impacts.
For many attendees, the session highlighted just how complex aged care can be.
Despite the complexity, attendees expressed appreciation for the opportunity to become better informed.
“Pleased to be made aware of changes from 1 July,” said one, while another described it as “an excellent service for our community – thank you. Greg has answered my questions for now.”
The seminar also prompted longer-term thinking, with one attendee commenting, “So complex! Will continue to access your assistance.”
Another attendee remarked, “The whole aged care process felt very overwhelming at first, but Greg made things so much easier to understand. He was patient, kind, and always took the time to explain things in a way we could follow — it brought a real sense of comfort during a difficult time. What stood out even more was the free information session Greg ran in our town. It was that session that opened our eyes to how important it is to get the right advice before making any big decisions. Without that, we might not have known where to start. I truly believe Greg goes above and beyond, not just for clients like us, but for the whole community.“
“With these major changes ahead, families need to understand their options and the financial implications to make informed decisions,” Greg added. “This seminar provides practical insights and strategies to help attendees navigate the new system.”
